One popular app has been banned from Google Play since it makes finding casual connections too easy, and the developers refuse to change a thing. This app is called Sexbook, and you can only download it from sexbook, not from the Google Play Store. We tried it ourselves to see if it lives up to all the hype. Here’s our Sexbook review.
Sexbook: A New Way to Look for Casual Relationships
Sexbook’s filters in the app can help you to find matches for your main age group and location. You can change the filtering criteria to increase the number of people you can find matches for. You can look for people within an age group that’s right for you, where you live, or within your location, so it can find similar people near you.
It even lets you specify specific height and weight preferences to look for matches who are the same size and height as you, or whatever turns you on. You can then chat using the app on your phone, or even video chat with people on their real profiles. The way that it is intended to work, the app is completely free, but there is a premium version available.

This has lead to some privacy concerns coupled with the sexual nature of the app, prompting Google to remove the app until they can review the moderation process. You can request a profile picture to be removed before you are able to communicate with them, or at any point, if you find them or their behavior to be suspicious or illegal.
What are they worried about?
The most likely cause for the Google Play store ban is user reports. Google takes app reviews very seriously, and while they are not usually heavy handed, they do have the right to remove apps which they suspect of violating the rules for any reason.
Sexbook actually has a link to the Google Play store on their main page, which clearly indicates that it is currently being reviewed for approval and can be downloaded from the Google Play store as soon as this review process has been completed.
Is it any good?
Short answer: yes. Long answer: well… maybe. Is it any good for you? Okay, first let’s break this down into two separate questions: Is this a good hookup app, and is it a good dating app in general? It’s definitely a good hookup app if you’re looking for casual interactions that aren’t on a dating app.
To be fair, this isn’t the kind of app for taking a potential serious romantic partner on a date. But if you want to meet people with similar interests, this app can help you find people with similar tastes, interests, and passions. You’re likely to meet someone who has similar tastes to you, and has similar passions, interests, and hobbies as you.
It’s not the most thrilling way to date, but at least you’ll likely be able to get to know each other a little bit, and you’ll have no problem finding hookups if that’s what you’re after.
